GETTING OLDER
Getting Older
But not wiser
Making all the same mistakes
Feeling older
Trying harder
To avoid new pains and aches
I'm older than I ever thought I'd be
With nothing much to show
A house, some clothes a digital TV
To keep me in the know
Getting Older
But not wiser
Days go by so fast
Feeling older
Trying harder
To rearrange my past
My days are spent the same way as my nights
Still dreaming fairy tales
About my life and who I think I am
As wind deserts my sails
Getting Older
No reversals
Running out of schemes
Feeling older
Sleeping longer
Living in my dreams
Its rare when I have moments such as these
To look inside of me
And see I'm not the stuff made of my dreams
Just to be or not to be
Its rare when I have moments such as these
To look inside of me
And see I'm always wrapped up in a dream
The safest place to be
Getting Older
Feeling older
What more is there for me
Christ, Tony. Snap outta it!! Though I'd like to hear the song...
ReplyDeleteI'm OKAY - ITS A SONG I STARTED A WHILE BACK - JUST FINE TUNED IT TONIGHT - WRITTEN FOR A CHARACTER IN A PLAY I WAS CVOLLABORATING ON WITH A FRIEND
DeleteAs Maurice Chevalier said, "Ah, I remember it well."
ReplyDeleteCraig, I was cleaning out my very messy computer desk and found the lyrics handwritten on an old note pad. Don't know how the pad got upstairs to my computer desk from my "Just Friends" files that I believe are still packed away in my garage. I worked on a little update and decided to post it. I recall that Roy Brocksmith liked this song well enough to perform it in his cabaret act one time. Did I ever tell you that?
DeleteOkay, now I'm depressed.
ReplyDeleteDon't be depressed Cathy. It's just make believe.
DeleteIt's not make believe to me . I remember Roy. Is there any way we can hear your song?
DeleteCathy & Kevin - I'm trying to figure out how to technically post it. I would love to share it with you. I'll work it out, I think.
