Damages

It has been the WINTER FROM HELL or, perhaps the WINTER IN HELL However you see it, it has been traumatic and it ain't over yet!

I, like many, have suffered ice dam roofs, water seepage, dangerous roads and ultra-freezing temps and that lovely thing called WIND CHILL.  Snow days and cancelled appointments, changed plans and cabin fever became common.

Gloves and scarves, hats and boots leave the world of fashion to become annoying necessities.

Icy roads and white-outs are threatening gestures that bully you day by day.

Damages.

Add to this  - gas leaks, malfunctions of all sorts from garage doors to ovens and clothes dryers -  throw in a little vandalism and you have the meanest winter on record - my record.

Damages

Health issues and challenges become more dire as the thermometer plunges.

Damages

2015 is a monster so far.

The sun is a stranger. Birds are absent. White is everywhere - blindingly so.

Spring will be a little late this year.

  1. I actually cried as I read your feelings about this winter. The frustration with it all has become overwhelming. Fear of losing everything safe to me has become more of a reality every passing snow-filled day. Feeling helpless is a horrible thing.
I fear that when this finally all melts away, the damages will be more devastating then we imagined. So for now, I'm just holding my breath and hoping for the best.

    1. The anxiety has been enormous, Donna. My stomach has been churning for 2 weeks. I won't be surprised If I have an ulcer over all this. When Spring finally comes lets celebrate with dinner.

    2. Dinner with you and Glen sounds fabulous, but Spring even sounds better. See you on the "other side" of this nightmare.

    1. Yes, Chris - I dread what everything will look like when the snow melts. OMG, Lisa. Donna, I hear you. Btw, thanks for your help with my "Overwhelming". Hey, that sounds like a horror flick "The Overwhelming" starring Sarah Michelle GellarT & Ryan Phillipe

  7. This has been a trying winter for us..with Gene's health problems ..not being able to do any physical work..thank God for the wonderful family and friends that helped us out ..with our roof, driveway and water leakage in 3 rooms in the house and garage.. and the driving to the doctors appointments in the worse weather..I just breathe deeply and go on..yes it has been Overwhelming..and it could be worse.

  8. I am not a relgious person, but I am a firm believer in the phrase you Reap What You Sew.. When adversedy happens to you and you have people that stand up and support you, you have earned that. You have earned that because you are loved and extremely worthy of that love. I am part of an extremely wonderful and diverse family and I am very grateful for that.

    1. I don't get your comment. Are you saying I "reaped" this miserable winter? Adversity - not adversidy - didn't just happen to me. It happened to WNY. I'm also not a religious person. That's why I DON'T believe you reap what you sow not sew - unless you're a seamstress. Bad things happen to good people all the time. It's not because they deserve it. It's just random like being mugged or tripping on a stone.

  9. I love the seamstress part..I watching my leaking ceilings ..hoping the drips will stop..I might be swimming soon. Love to all.

  10. I think we all need a break. Nerves are rattled and our depositions tested. I too, don't think it has any bearing on religion, but rather our past abuses of our "Mother Earth". This, I truly believe, is what has caught up to us.

  11. Gene Fini, you didn't need to remove your comments. You meant well but you were using the biblical "reap what you sow" incorrectly as it means whatever happens to you is your fault - good or bad - due to your behavior - good or bad. I just don't believe that - especially with natural disasters, weather and such. We are not being punished by anyone except, perhaps, Mother Nature
